of an adult learner "Project Read has truly been a blessing to me. I can’t say enough about the program. The staff is so wonderful in the way they welcome learners. The program could not exist without the beautiful people we call tutors who give their time, skills and love by helping adults improve their reading skills. Reading is a wonderful gift. Fear, shame, embarrassment and the word "dumb" kept me in the darkness for many years. But deep in my soul I knew I could improve my reading skills, so I began pushing out of the darkness and replacing it with light. This brought me to Project Read. Now I feel great about myself. Not only am I able to read better, but I have stuck with the program and have learned so much more than I ever dreamed was possible. It wasn’t easy all the time. Things got tough, but my tutor would encourage me to keep on the path and the end results would pay off. The happiest times now are when I can curl up with a good book, read each page to the end and then share it with someone else.
